Qualifications and Experience

I have a postgraduate diploma in relationship therapy (University of Hull) and graduate certificate in couple therapy (University of East London). I have received extensive further training, including psychosexual therapy, counselling young people and families, online counselling, domestic violence and abuse, sexual abuse, mental health issues (including self-harm), co-ordinated management of meaning and solution-focused brief therapy. Ongoing training and continuous professional development is essential to the way I practice.

As well as my private practice in the Chilterns, Buckinghamshire, convenient for Amersham, Great Missenden and High Wycombe travel networks, I work for Relate seeing clients with relationship and sexual problems, and I am lead counsellor for a domestic violence drop-in service and a trainer. Originally a nurse, I also have an interest in health-related issues, cancer, pregnancy, menopause and eating disorders.

Ethical Issues and Confidentiality

I work to the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy (BASRT) and have regular Criminal Records Bureau checks.

I comply with data protection legislation and maintain the security of all client information. I would not normally share information from or about my clients except in very exceptional circumstances where there was good reason to be concerned about issues of safety, particularly if these related to a vulnerable individual.

As an ethical practitioner, I receive regular supervision in accordance with BACP and BASRT guidance, where client confidentiality is maintained.
